Hello everyone, and welcome to my blog, For the Love of Soup. I’m Angel and let me tell you why of all the things I could be passionate about, I chose soup. I grew up eating soups my dad made for me and my sister as children and nothing beats a good homemade bowl of soup. All my life I watched and help my dad in the kitchen. Not once would he pull out a recipe. It was like he went on autopilot, cutting vegetables, throwing them into a pot of water, seasoning it with herbs and spices. before I knew it a bowl was in front of me with tortilla on the side. Nothing could give me more comfort than that. For me, soup has always been a food of love with so much versatility and freedom.
Now as a college student far from my family back in California, I want to use soup to create a safe space. Just me and My pot. Just me and my cutting board. And Just me sharing my experiences with all of you. Lets be creative and take inspiration from each other, soup has no limits. Everything is to taste if you want it spicy, then make it spicy, if you want it salty, then make it salty. The beauty of soup is how versatile and therapeutic it can be. As for me, I cook because it’s my way of saying thank you to myself. I come home and I reach for whatever ingredients I have in my fridge and grab whatever spices I think best and I cook to nurture my body and feed my soul. As a thank you to myself for working hard whether its at school or my job or even after doing a hefty amount of homework, I make a good meal for myself. I want this to be a place where people can come together and be creative with cooking and that all starts with a simple dish I hold close to my heart. Soup
